Traffic Generation - Does It Cost You? Or Pay You?!

It seems like a strange question. It does bear consideration though...

If you are seeking to make a living off of your online endeavors, then in all likelihood a fair amount of your efforts as well as revenue go towards making sure that
the right people are exposed to your websites, blogs, articles and profiles.

So how would you answer the question posed by the title of this post?

My own mantra as an Internet Marketer has been that all of my activities should also be profit centers. When they are not, then further search and research need to be undertaken. This attitude has been responsible for finding resources that have both made and saved me thousands of dollars.

So now let's apply this to traffic generation.

Fortunately, most of my tried and true traffic generation methods cost nothing but time to implement, but other than what my own copy products produced nothing else came of it. You are probably laughing at that last sentence, and it is kind of funny when you look at it. This particular mindset though always makes one take stock to see if perhaps we could do a little better.

Here is one thing that has produced Targeted Traffic as well as Revenues above and beyond what the sites had been earning. What I am talking about are Ad Networks. It is very important to understand that we are not talking about Google AdWords/AdSense here. There are tons of these out there, and many are top notch. The one that I found mentioned be top marketers over and over again is AdBrite

This is one of the most versatile as well as the most effective Ad Networks available to Internet Marketers today. They offer Text Ads, InLine Ads, and Banners as well as Full Page Ads (formerly called Interstitial Ads by AdBrite) There are several high quality reports available that teach you how to set your ads up and customize where your ads appear as well as who they are seen by. AdBrite's Advertizer's Dashboard is quite easy to use and allows for editing your campaigns on the fly, so nothing is written in stone. No doubt many of you are currently using other Ad Networks to promote your sites, and have found them acceptably effective and versatile.

The point to be made here is that within any versatile and quality Ad Network is the opportunity to place their ads on your site as well. This will help to alleviate some, if not all of the costs associated with promoting your own site or blog. You can also monetize sites using AdBrite's InVideo and BritePic features. This can be accomplished by a continual "tweaking" of both your own ads, and the specs on the ads you place on your own sites.

I prefer placing Full Page Ads to drive visitors to my sites, but placing banner ads on my sites. Find the combination that works for you. Look for unique ways to maximize visitors at the lowest cost, while also maximizing revenues earned from those same visitors. My own preferences also include utilizing the BritePics feature, but at this point have not included the InVideo feature. In the near future this will change as the importance of Video increases, and so have the forum posts speaking up on behalf of AdBrite's InVideo.

As you can see, it is possible to maximize revenues to the point that the traffic realized ends up not only tohave a net cost of zero, but actually pays you a nice profit. This will not happen however without constant application of the old "Test & Measure" technique.

As always the most important thing is to take action. Do nothing, and nothing will continue to happen. Take action, however and you put your fate, and therefore your success into your own hands.
