A HodgePodge Of Social Marketing Apps And Functionality
It is definitely one of the joys of working online
when you come across something that makes a
task easier, or gives you an alternative method
of promotion that is not only easy but just plain
works!
1. Yesterday while doing a bit of Digg-work,
there appeared before me an unassuming Tab
that said "Blog It". Okay so it ain't the Holy Grail
of Social site promotion, but it really makes it
easy to post something from Digg to several
different blogging platforms. I went back and
blogged a Squidoo Lens of mine that I wanted to
say a few things about here anyway. This made
the post almost effortless. Use this, it's quite
useful.
2. Speaking of Squidoo. Each and every time
you update one of your lenses, be sure to use the
"Tweet This" link in the green box that appears
for a few seconds right after you hit the "Publish"
button. This will post a Twitter update letting
your friends know that you have updated your
lens. Microblogging is an important part of you
Social Marketing tasks that this can simplify
dramatically.
3. This one is pretty well known, but for those
that have not run across it, OnlyWire is a great
Social Bookmarking service because it posts your
bookmark to over 20 different Social Bookmarking
sites.
4. RSS becomes more important every day as a
means of both promoting your own site and also
to stay abreast of what your favorite bloggers are
posting, and giving you an opportunity to go and
get those all important Trackback Links. Grab
your 2008 Authority Blackbook at the top of the
sidebar for an explanation of how and why these
are important. Been relying more and more heavily
on my Google Reader for this lately, and find that
a web based RSS Reader just works better for me
than than anything else I have tried.
5. RSS Announcer. This is a handy little tool that
you can have on me. Run this every time you post
to your blog, or update any page you publish a feed
for. It will get you subscribers just about every time.
That's all for now.
Hope you enjoy these and use them too...
Eat a peach!

Review Of SocialMarker.com
Review Of SocialMarker.com
My regular readers have probably noticed the
little bookmarking widget after my sig on each
post. This leads to a site called SocialMarker,
and looks like this:
This is a site that allows you to go through and
bookmark whatever you wish on almost fifty
different social bookmarking services. Check
out the list and I am sure you will find most
if not all of your favorite social bookmarking
services.
The utility allows you to fill in various fields
ahead of time and then autofills those fields
on each of the sites that you have checked as
services you want to bookmark with. It does
occasionally miss a field or two and force you to
retype the info you want bookmarked, but that
is the exception.
I like the look of just this one little widget better
than having a whole flag of those little 80x80
badges at the end of each post, or even in my
sidebar. Those of you that have been with me
for a while probably remember when there was
a whole army of social media banners, widgets and
badges everywhere you looked.
Having settled on just the Integrated Digg badge
at the top of each post, and the SocialMarker widget
at the end, I am quite a bit happier with the look it
gives my blog and I also find that my readers use
them far more often. The Digg badge also gives the
current number of diggs for each post, which often
encourages a reader to add their Digg.
By using SocialMarker.com I may be missing a few
Social Bookmarking services that are being used out
there, but not enough to clutter my blog up to the
point of distracting readers.
Hopefully there is still enough for me to say that it
is better to get that info across than to bury it in
a mass of tiny squares.
Eat a peach!

it to verify your data and you are ready to roll.
Check it out HERE.
I have already mentioned the Social Linking
BlackBook for 2008 in a previous post, but it
bears repeating...
This thing is just chock full of Web 2.0 / Social
Marketing resources tactics and info that you

Social Marketing, cPanel Upgrade or Whatever - Slow Down and Read

Social Marketing, cPanel Upgrade or Whatever - Slow Down and Read
I am as guilty as anyone of this, but will rant
for a while anyway, as this is a problem that
many have.
We get so busy that we forget to take the time
to be sure we know the best (or even sometimes
just the basic) ways to do the things that we take
for granted as basic tasks.
I got thrown for a loop today by something as
simple as the new cPanel upgrade. Not really a
big deal, but when you are a SemiLiterate
Marketing Thug with emphasis on the SemiLiterate
for technical stuff, it seems like a really big deal...
I was so focused on some changes to be made to
one of my Thank You Pages, that it took me quite
a few minutes to stop, take a breath and just look
around. Once I did, I found that I could still use
the old File Manager by selecting Legacy File
Manager.
Once I took the time to look around I found that
I like the upgrade. I like the wysiwyg HTML
editor. Lots to appreciate, and I got the changes
to my page made far quicker because I took the
time to just breathe... Read... and Implement.
Seems basic huh?!
But I'll bet you do it too.
I have folders full of information that can make
my work easier, more effective, and even more
pleasant.
Case in point:
I do a lot of Social Bookmarking, as well as other
forms of Social Marketing almost continuously as
an integral part of blogging, articlemarketing and
a host of other online endeavors.
As a result of my experience with the cPanel upgrade
I took the time to start reading this report:
Social Linking BlackBook
Grab it. No cost, but read it right away, as you will
no doubt save yourself time, as well as get more out
of your efforts by implementing what you learn.
Overall what I want you to take away from this post
is to slow down a bit and make sure that you utilize
the resources at your disposal.
You will get more done, with more ease, and get far
more results from almost whatever you do...

Social Marketing Video Slumgullion - A Mixed Web 2.0 Bag
Social Marketing Video Slumgullion - A Mixed Web 2.0 Bag
My Web 2.0 perspective gets wider constantly.
This post will hopefully open your eyes to an ever
expanding world of Social Marketing opportunities.
Slumgullion was a dish that my Dad used to make
for out family on the few occassions when he cooked
for us. His description of what Slumgullion is was
simply that it was a vibrant mixture of whatever
inspired him at that moment.
Which is exactly what the following videos are...
Watch them and I guarantee your outlook will
expand and expose you to a multitude of new
and exciting Web 2.0 and Social Marketing
ideas, products, projects...
You get the idea!
Let's start with a mind-blowing overview of
just what this whole Web 2.0 experience is:
While your mind is still reeling, and you
ask yourself how we fell down this rabbit
hole, watch this:
This is what it is all about. Whether you
call it Web 2.0 or Social Marketing or even
Slumgullion, that tag line is appropriate:
"The audience is up to something..."
Now watch and listen to seth Godin, author
of Meatball Sunday and founder of Squidoo,
as he talks Marketing. When Seth talks
marketing, anyone that markets, listens:
So now ask yourself:
"What is my Purple Cow?"
Here is one company's:
Nothing will ever be the same in the
marketing world again. Web 2.0 means
that to a greater extent than anyone
would have thought possible, the market
is now in a greater position of control
than ever.
For the first time, the dog is wagging
the tail, and not the other way around.
The winners of the Web 2.0 - Social
Marketing game will be those that work
with the flow and respond to that market.
By definition, the only way to respond to
anything or anyone is to be a part of the
conversation. Will you be?
These guys found a way to be:
Being a part of the conversation means
speaking in the language it is taking
place in. YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook,
blogging, social bookmarking and forum
posting are all parts of that language.
Now, take your purple cow, and translate
it into that language!

What Web 2.0 Really Means...
![]()
What Web 2.0 Really Means...
Call me slow, but it has finally hit me that amid all the
hoopla about Web 2.o; Social Bookmarking, Blogging,
and Networking sites like MySpace and Facebook that
it's all really about one thing:
Involvement
Yeah, I know... Pretty obvious isn't it?
The only real way to benefit from the shift in emphasis that
encompasses what is known as Web 2.0 is to be integrally
involved in your market's online community. Through Social
Bookmarking of relevant sites, writing articles on pertinent
subjects, involvement in relevant forums, networking on Facebook
and yes... Blogging!
These are the ways that we will all gain influence, readers - and
thus traffic and thus revenue streams, and thus sales as well.
Nothing else will do!
I have fought this without realizing it for way too long, becoming
like Homer Simpson sitting in front of his computer and saying:
"Okay, send me money!"
None of this is to say that there is no need for marketing tools,
and there is no shortage of quality products available to overcome
the obstacles that anyone seeking to make a living online face.
None of them will alleviate the need for each of us to roll up our
sleeves, wade in and get involved in whatever niches we choose to
market to.
Frankly, I'm kind of relieved and for the first time in a while am
not at a loss as to how to start each day:
Just wade in...
